3 Cup Par Boiled Rice (Ukda Rice) (Special Idli Rice),

 1 Cup Split Black Gram (Urad Dal)

 

Thoughroly wash the rice and dal twice with tap water. Soak them for 7-8 hours.

Drain off the water from rice and keep aside the water of dal in a bowl.

You will require it later for making the batter which makes batter ferment faster and make idli softer.

In a mixer jar, make a smooth paste of the dal and add dal water if required.

Take the dal paste in a large vessel.

Make a smooth paste of rice in batches and add dal water to it if required.

Mix the rice paste with dal paste.

The batter's consistency should be like this.

Cover the batter and keep in warm place for 5-6hours for fermentation.

After fermentation, the batter will rise like shown in the video.

Mix the batter well and add salt .

Homemade Idli/Dosa Batter is ready!!
