Aloo Vada

Aalu Vada,Aalu Kofta or Aalu Bonda is a famous Indian snack. It is deep fried, savoury and quick recipe. It is a perfect tea time and kitty party snack.



Preparation And Cooking Time

Cooking Method :   

500 Gram Boiled Potato                                

For Batter-

1 Cup Coarse Gram Flour (Besan)                  

1/2 Cup Fine Gram Flour

1/4 Cup Corn Flour

1 Tbsp Oil

1 Pinch Baking soda

Salt to taste

For Stuffing-

500gram Boiled potato

1/2 Cup Frozen Green Peas

2 Chopped Green Chili

1 Tsp Red Chili Powder

1 Tsp Garam Masala

1 Tsp Dry Mango Powder (Aamchur)

1/4 Tsp Turmeric Powder


1/2 Tsp Mustard Seeds

1 Tbsp Oil

1/4Cup Fresh Coriander

Salt to taste

Heat oil in a pan and crackle mustard seeds. Add green chili and cook for a minute.

Add peas and cook for 2 minutes. Mash the potatoes and add in the pan.

Add all spices and coriander. Mix well and cook all spices for couple of minutes.

Make lemon size balls from the potato mixture.

For batter add both types of gram flour, corn flour, carom seeds, 1 tsp oil, salt, baking soda.

Gradually add water and prepare a thick and lump free batter.

Dip potato balls in gram flour batter and deep fry in hot oil on high flame.

Flip them and fry them from both sides.

Take out them and enjoy hot vadas.
