Tomato Biryani

Tomato Biryani or Pulav is an easy peasy recipe which is very quick. It tastes tangy and spicy and can be made with very few ingredients which are easily available in our kitchen.



Preparation And Cooking Time

Cooking Method :   

1 Cup Basmati Rice (Soaked For 20 minutes)

1 Cup chopped tomato

½ Cup chopped onion

¼ Cup diced capsicum

1 Cup tomato puree

2 Tbsp pavbhaji masala

½ Tsp turmeric powder

1 Tbsp Red chili powder

1 Tsp Salt or to taste

1 Tsp Cumin Seeds

1 Bay leaf, 1 Inch cinnamon stick

2 Tbsp Oil

1 Cup Water

Method –

Heat oil in a pan, crackle cumin seeds. Add bay leaf and cinnamon stick.

Add onions and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add capsicum and tomato.

Add all spices and saute it. Cover with lid and allow to cook for 4-5 minutes on low flame.

Add tomato puree and 1 cup of water. Bring it to boil.

Add soaked rice, stir it gently. Cover it and cook for 12-15 minutes or till they are cooked properly on low flame.

Switch off the flame. Give a gentle stir. Cover it again for 10 minutes.

Serve hot with vegetable raita.
