Matar Makhana Curry

Makhana Matar Curry or Puffed Lotus Seeds and green Pea Curry is a rich and a royal recipe and can be easily at home with a few ingredients which are easily available at home. This can be served to guests and they will relish it a lot. Also watch our video of Tomato Biryani:

Cooking Method :   

Makhana matar Recipe -
Ingredients –

2 Cup Makhana( puffed lotus seeds)

1 Cup blanched green peas

1/4 Cup Fresh Cream

1 and 1/2 cup Tomato puree

1/4 Cup Cashew Paste

1/2 Cup Onion, ginger, garlic paste (1 onion, 1 inch ginger, 6-7 garlic pods)

1 Cup Oil

2 Bay leaf, 2 inch Cinnamon stick, 1 Star anise, 2 Cardamom, 2 Cloves

1 tsp Salt or to taste

1 tsp Red Chili Powder

1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder

1tsp Sugar

1/4 Cup Cashew

Chopped Coriander for garnishing

Heat 3/4 cup oil in a pan and roast the puffed lotus seeds till they becomes crispy.

Take out them and keep aside.

Heat rest of oil and add bay leaf, cinnamon stick, star anise, cardamom and cloves.

Add onion, ginger-garlic paste and cook till it leaves oil.

Add red chili powder and turmeric powder, cook for 2 minutes.

Add cashew paste and cook for 6-7 minutes.

Add cream and mix it properly and cook for 5 minutes. Stir it continuously.

Add tomato puree, stir it continuously and cook for 10 minutes.

Add 1/2 cup water and cook on low flame for 10 minutes.

Add salt.

Add sugar and mix well.

Add blanched peas and roasted puffed lotus seeds.

Add cashews and chopped coriander.

Switch off the flame.

Serve hot with Indian flat bread.
