Moong dal halwa is a famous Indian sweet. Generally it is made on any special occasion. It is a rich and royal sweet. Here I have given the recipe in traditional way and a step-by-step video of dal halwa.
100gm Yellow moong Dal (soaked for 3-4 hours)
125g Clarified butter (Pure Ghee)
1/4 cup mix dry fruit (almonds, cashew and pistachio)
1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder
Grind soaked moong dal in mixer without using water.
Consistency should neither be very fine nor grainy.
Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed pan, add dal paste and roast it on low flame
for 10 minutes.
After some time it will stick to the bottom of the pan, continue stirring.
Now it looks little grainy. Roast it continuously on medium low flame.
Now it will start to change its colour. Keep stirring on medium low flame.
Roast till it becomes light golden brown in colour.
At this point boil 350 ml water in another pan.
Ghee will start to come on sides. Total roasting time is 40-50 minutes.
Add little water and mix well.
Now add all water and mix well.
Add sugar, mix till it dissolves properly and till the ghee starts to come
out on the edges of pan.
Add dry fruit, cardamom powder and mix well.
Moong dal halwa is ready.....
